The Coat of Arms in our logo was originally designed for the Kenton family, who owned the land called "Upland" from the early 1700's until 1806.
William Kenton originally moved to Talbot County in 1685 from a Quaker settlement in Virginia because his religion forbade him to pay taxes to support the Anglican Church.
After finding the low land in Talbot County unsuitable for farming, his son, William Kenton Jr., purchased a parcel of land in 1709 that became known as "Upland".
